Triode: a semiconductor device with three connections, typically allowing the flow of current in one direction only.
The video performance “Triode” delves into the dark depths of the history of female fascism in Britain, responding to the fact that a woman Rotha Lintorn-Orman founded the first fascist movement in Britain, The British Fascisti, in 1923. Taking the form of a triptych in using a three-screen format “Triode” considers this specific era of female history in relation to the contemporary politics of power associated with the female body. It investigates sexual submission, dominance and the cold mechanical use of the female body as a reproductive machine. The differing screen colours refer to the British flag. This work, thus, critically questions and challenges the presence of right wing nationalism.
