796 Pages

Performed at the Loud & Western Building as part of Feminist Hysteria Journal Launch July 2014 and at Mart as part of the Dublin Live Art Festival 2014

‘I lay them all out in nice sentences, all my clean, white bones.’
Ann Enright, The Gathering, (2007) p. 2.

This durational performance considers acts of political whitewashing. It questions that which is negated by official narratives. It takes, as a point of departure, the omission of 796 pages of testimonies by women who were detained in Ireland’s Magdalen Laundries from the 2013 McAleese Report.

Materials used: laundry powder, milk, lamb feeding teats, knitting needles, bones (coloured green, white and orange) and a bone-grinder.
