Statement of current practice
'In my current practice I am researching and developing ideas and observations from my personal journey through motherhood, examining the close bonds that tie humans together and the differences that separate us. This work looks at the hopes and fears, the love and loss that arise form close human relationships. Investigating the role of the mother in informing or influencing cultural and individual identity particularly in relation to normative gendered structures. Looking how cultural beliefs occupy or are inscribed on the body and how the development of the individual involves an embracing or disarming of this process. I am linking these observations to greater political and social contexts in particular situations of conflict in which concrete divisions segregate people, exploring how the impact of such conflicts impinge on the family and strengthen national and cultural identity. My current research takes an interest in the links and contradictions between close human bonds and the harsh barriers that divide us. Walls and barriers are of huge visual relevance to my current research, providing physical or concrete structures to coincide with the metaphorical and biological barriers I am observing.

Coinciding with this current work is an ongoing investigation into the links and contradictions between liveness and mediatization. My recent performance "Captured" - performed in the Underground Prisoners Musuem, Jerusalem - forms part of this continuous exploration.
