David Cutting

David started painting at a young age but by his early twenties he had resolved to become a graphic designer. He gained a place at Central School of Arts & Crafts in Holborn, London, at a time preceding its merger with St Martin's and had the good fortune to learn typography from the hugely influential and inspirational Anthony Froshaug. After graduating from Central, David's interest in painting was set aside as he focused his attention on his design practice and his family.

David ran his own business for over three decades, employing over fifteen people at various times along the way, providing a general graphic design service to both the public and private sectors but particularly to educational organisations, scientific institutions and publishers. He also spent some time as a partner in a small publishing venture called Germinal Productions.

Recently, with his family now grown up and his enthusiasm for computer controlled communication in terminal decline, David's love of painting has re-emerged and he has discovered his real identity as an artist. His other interests – photography, designing and making furniture and creating toys – are also given expression on this website.
